Oregon volleyball starts postseason play tonight at Matthew Knight Arena at 8 p.m. The sixth ranked Ducks come into the NCAA tournament as a fifth seed. Tonight they play the Northern Colorado Bears. The Oregon club hockey team takes on the Washington Huskies for the I-5 cup series at the Lane County Ice Center tonight. The Huskies have won the title for the last three years, but the Ducks have a shot at winning, coming into this game with a 11-1-1 record and their only loss being to Washington in Seattle. On Thursday, defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin, announced that he will be leaving USC after the Trojans bowl game in December. Kiffin, known as the mastermind of the “Tampa- 2” defensive scheme, came to Southern California, when his son, Lane, was hired in January 2010. Kiffin has been a coach for 47 years, including 26 in the NFL. @@checked@@
NBA commissioner David Stern fined the San Antonio Spurs $250,000 for sitting star players Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobili, along with key role player Danny Green, in Thursday night’s game against the Heat. This was the Spurs’ fourth road game in five nights.
