The Oregon baseball team finalized its 56-game schedule for next year’s return of the sport to the University.
The Ducks will start their season on Feb. 20, 2009 at St. Mary’s and have their home opener set for Feb. 27 against Fresno State.
“Considering how little time we had to work with, I’m very pleased that we were able to have a full schedule of 56 games,” baseball coach George Horton said in a press release.
The Ducks will play a full Pacific-10 Conference schedule and will begin league play against rival Oregon State on March 27. The Beavers are the two-time defending College World Series champion, and Horton said to begin the Pac-10 schedule with them only makes sense.
“I can’t think of a more exciting way to begin for baseball fans in the state, our program and Oregon baseball in general,” he said.
The Beavers lead the all-time series against the Ducks 150-144. The last game between the two took place in 1981, Oregon’s last game before the program was disbanded.
