Staff at the Eugene Planning and Development Department released a report Tuesday recommending that Anne Corcoran Briggs, public hearings official, approve the University’s application for a conditional use permit, which the University needs to begin construction on a new basketball arena.
The recommendation came in a 40-page staff report outlining the details of the proposed project and application, as well as several conditions that should be met before final approval.
The land use application will either be approved, approved with conditions, or denied at the public hearing on Oct. 7 at Eugene City Hall.
Eugene Land Use Law mandates that the Planning and Development Department release a detailed report of any conditional use permit applications seven days prior to the public hearing “to allow citizens… to review the staff analysis of the application.”
The report listed 18 conditions that should be met by the University before it is granted the use permit, such as providing a list of existing and proposed easements, a stormwater Operations and Maintenance Plan, and a final landscaping plan.
Additionally, the University should “incorporate conceptual details of all proposed mitigation measures and public improvements,” according to the report.
