A Eugene bicyclist died Monday afternoon in a crash with a car at the intersection of East 13th Avenue and Willamette Street.
Eugene resident David Matthew Minor, 27, was riding southbound on Willamette Street while Latasha Ann Williams, a 31-year-old Eugene resident, was driving a blue sedan northbound. Minor began turning left onto East 13th Avenue without yielding to Williams, who was continuing north on Willamette Street through the intersection. Williams hit Minor, who was not wearing a helmet, in the middle of the intersection.
Paramedics arrived less than a minute after the crash and rushed Minor to Sacred Heart Medical Center, where he later died.
Police are still investigating the crash, but the information they have indicates speed was probably not a factor. They are still investigating whether influence of intoxicants played a role.
