Robert Thomas Berryhill, the Coos Bay man who killed Lucy Lahr and injured her partner Susan Wehner at Hilyard Street and 13th Avenue Oct. 18, was sentenced to three and a half years in prison Thursday morning, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
Berryhill was arrested Oct. 22 on two felony charges and a misdemeanor. He pleaded guilty Thursday to criminally negligent homocide, felony hit and run, and driving while suspended. He claimed he did not see Lahr and Wehner cross the street when he turned the corner in his truck because his windshield was leaking and his defroster was broken.
Berryhill’s previous offenses include reckless driving, criminal trespass and driving under the influence.
