Agate Street at East 13th Avenue will be closed to northbound traffic, the traffic leading out of campus toward Franklin Boulevard, for five to 10 days beginning today. The southbound lane of Agate Street, however, will remain open to motorists.
The City of Eugene’s public works department will be repairing a damaged drainage pipe underneath the road that catches storm water.
Noisy construction crews will be jack-hammering the road during the work hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and motorists are advised to watch for construction equipment.
On-street parking will be prohibited in some areas, and the parking lot on the east side of Agate Street should be accessed via Franklin Boulevard.
Drivers heading north on Agate Street are encouraged to find alternative routes. Doug Reubell, an engineering technician for Eugene Public Works, said the best routes around the intersection are through University Street, or accessing Franklin Boulevard from Villard Street via 15th Avenue.
