As you must be aware by now, the final Harry Potter book, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” comes out this Saturday.
For especially eager fans, the book will be available across the city at various midnight release parties Friday night. Here’s the rundown of local festivities:
Barnes & Noble Booksellers
1163 Valley River Dr.
Opening ceremonies for Barnes & Noble’s Harry Potter extravaganza are at 6 p.m. on Friday and will continue until midnight, when the book is released.
Activities include a trivia scavenger hunt, which features questions scattered throughout the store; a trivia game to see who knows the most about Harry Potter; face painting; and a tournament of wizarding games.

Borders

Things kick off a little later at Borders; the Grand Hallows Ball starts at 9:30 p.m. and, of course, features a costume contest.
Fans can also expect a slew of activities, games and giveaways before the book’s big release.

Books Without Borders

Eugene’s local bookstore hosts its own Harry Potter event starting at 9:00 p.m. on Friday night.
Festivities include fun and drama with the Lord Leebrick Theatre Company; a Harry Potter fan film screening; a costume contest; music, games and puzzles; a Hogwarts School Pictures photo booth; and a raffle drawing for prizes.
The event is free, but a fee is required for the photo booth and the raffle tickets, with proceeds going to the Lord Leebrick Theatre Company.

Campus Harry Potter fans can join other college-aged muggles at the University Bookstore’s celebration, beginning at 7 p.m.
There will be a number of Harry Potter-themed booths throughout the store, including cupcake decorating and prize giveaways.
At midnight, the book will be released at 30 percent off the cover price.
