Redshirt sophomore John Paton led the Oregon Ducks to a third-place finish at the Giustina Memorial in Corvallis on Tuesday after shooting a final round 69.
Paton finished in second place with a 8-under, 208 overall at the par-72 Trysting Tree Golf Course.
“I’m really excited for John,” said Oregon head coach Casey Martin to goducks.com. “He just played phenomenally. He really looked like he belonged at this level and that’s been a long
time coming.”
Sophomore Eugene Wong finished in a tie for sixth at 4-under for the tournament. Following Wong was junior Isaiah Telles, who shot a 2-over 218 and placed eighteenth.
Sophomore Andrew Vijarro and junior Sean Maekawa both tied for twenty-fourth at a
6-over 222.
Oregon State won the tournament at 20-under 844. Washington State placed second at 853 and the Ducks captured third at 857.
Next up for No. 22 Oregon is the Alister MacKenzie Invitational at the Meadow Club in Fairfax, Calif.
