No. 15 Oregon (10-5, 3-4) began their Washington road trip with a loss to defending Pac-12 champions, No. 14 Washington (15-3, 5-2) at the Alaska Airlines Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion on Wednesday night.
The Ducks fell to the Huskies by set scores of 25-20, 19-25, 21-25, 26-24 and 15-13. Its Oregon’s first five-set loss this season.
Taylor Agost, Maggie Scott and August Raskie all recorded double-doubles in the loss. As a team, Oregon served a season-best 18 aces.
Agost earned her second double-double of the season with a career-high of 19 kills and 11 digs. Raskie concluded with 20 assists and 16 digs, her fourth double-double this season.
Scott had a season-high 30 assists and 10 digs, becoming the fourth Duck ever to reach 3,000 career assists. The senior now has a career total of 3,009 assists.
The Huskies opened the match with early momentum as they opened service with an ace. But the Ducks would jump ahead at 8-7 and would stay on top, winning 25-20.
Oregon had a brief lead in set two, but the Huskies quickly took and won the set 25-19, leading with as big of a deficit as seven. Agost and Johnson lead the Ducks with seven kills each in the set.
Set three started back-and-forth until the Huskies pulled away with six straight points and opened a four-point lead at 17-13. Ending the set with a 7-1 run, Washington won 25-21.
After dropping the middle two sets, the Ducks came back strong in the fourth set. They took the lead at point 11 and ended up winning the set 26-24. Agost again led the team with 14 kills, three ahead of Willow Johnson’s 11.
The Huskies took the upper hand in the fifth and final set by starting with four unanswered points. Oregon brought a five-point deficit to one before Washington took home the deciding match win, 15-13.
The Ducks will remain in Washington, playing the Washington State Cougars on Friday at 6 p.m. at Martin Stadium.
