After sweeping Arizona and Arizona State on the road for just the third time in the previous 35 years, Oregon basketball improved to No. 16 in the AP Poll released Monday morning.
It is the highest spot the Ducks (18-4, 7-2) have reached in the poll this season, and leaves them as the top-ranked PAC-12 team.
Ranked 23rd, last week, Oregon’s leap of seven spots was the most of any team ranked in the top 25.
The Ducks came in one spot behind Baylor (17-4, 6-2), whom they defeated 74-67 on Nov. 16.
Although they have yet to crack the top 10 in the AP Poll, the Ducks moved up to third in the RPI ranking due to their high strength of schedule. They also placed 17th in the USA Today Coaches Poll this week.
Arizona was the only other PAC-12 team to receive a top-25 ranking this week. The Wildcats dropped five spots to 23rd after the Ducks ended their previous nation-best 49-game winning streak.
In his most recent edition of Bracketology, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has the Ducks slotted as a three seed in his projections for the NCAA Tournament. The Ducks are one of six teams whom Lunardi predicts to make the tournament.
