The Oregon women’s golf team earned its second consecutive bid to the NCAA West Regional on
Monday along with six other Pacific-10 Conference teams selected for the 21-team field. The invitation came as no surprise to Oregon head coach Shannon Rouillard, whose squad finished eighth at the Pac-10 Championships last week.
“That’s about what we expected,” Rouillard said. “We just need to shoot three solid rounds of golf, and there’s no doubt we can do that.”
Delivering a solid performance at the NCAA Regionals has been the primary goal this season for
Rouillard and the 11th-seeded Ducks, who well remember
their heart-breaking finale at last year’s regionals where Oregon fell to Texas in a playoff game with a ticket to the NCAA Championships on the line.
This year’s NCAA West Regional, May 6-8, marks the Oregon’s 11th regional appearance and second under Rouillard, who is in her fifth year as Oregon’s head coach. The Ducks are looking to earn their first bid to the NCAA Championships since 1998.
