The awards continue to roll in for the Oregon softball team.
Pitcher Cheridan Hawkins was named first team All-American for the second consecutive year, while third baseman Jenna Lilley and outfielder Janie Takeda were named second National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Wednesday.
Takeda’s selection places her as the first ever in Oregon history to be named a three-time All-American. She was selected first team as a sophomore and second team last year as a junior. This season, Takeda became the 19th player in NCAA history to tally 300+ hits, 200+ runs and 100+ stolen bases. The senior currently holds UO career records in all three categories, including doubles.
Hawkins, Oregon’s unanimous ace, was one of three finalists for the USA Softball player of the year award. Oregon has now had a pitcher earn All-America honors in four straight seasons.
Hawkins holds a 1.41 ERA and a .135 batting average heading into the start of the Women’s College World Series.
Lilley — a freshman — was one of three finalists for NFCA national freshman of the year. She leads the Ducks with a .433 batting average, 60 runs scored, 16 doubles and 39 walks.
The Ducks play UCLA in the first round of the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. PST on ESPN2.
