ASUO senator Ben Rudin filed a grievance and complaint form against Katie Taylor and Alex Sylvester of the “Katie and Alex” election campaign. In the grievance, Rudin states that he “happened upon an ‘I voted Katie and Alex’ Facebook event. I noticed that their link was not to DuckWeb but http://asuo2012.com/vote/votekna.html.”
Rudin continued to explain that taking the neutral URL that ASUO provided for the elections and redirecting it from a Facebook page violates the rules of the election. In the grievance, he states that he texted Katie Taylor requesting she take down the page by 5 p.m., but she did not.
When asked, Joanna Stewart, campaign manger for “Katie and Alex,”@@http://directory.uoregon.edu/telecom/directory.jsp?p=findpeople%2Ffind_results&m=student&d=person&b=name&s=Joanna+Stewart@@ did not elaborate on the filed grievances but did indicate that they would respond.
“We have 48 hours to respond,” Stewart said. “Grievances being filed are just part of it. As far as responding, that’s something we do through the elections process.”
Rudin also noted in the grievance that the Facebook event was put on by a “Katie and Alex” volunteer and was being attended by Taylor, Sylvester and Stewart which indicates that they were aware of the content of the event.
He is requesting that the “Katie and Alex” campaign cease all use of the ASUO2012.com website and not campaign for the remainder of the primary elections.
