Take a Minute is a daily post that will catch you up on Internet happenings on campus and around the world.
We begin this week with Chris Bosh being, well, amazing. It’s possible — very, very possible — that this is my favorite .gif of all time. Perhaps I’m falling victim to hyperbole, as we are so wont to do during the playoffs. But honestly, this is just perfect: the timing, the head turn, the sly grin the crosses his face just before it ends … I couldn’t have scripted it any better. In fact, it’s almost good enough to make me forget this happened not too long ago. Almost.
Anyway, in honor of Chris, the dawn of May and, well, me, we’re making this Take a Minute an All-NBA-Playoff edition. If that doesn’t suit you, frankly I don’t care. There’s too much goodness in these playoffs to ignore, too much hilarity not to be shared with the masses.
Like this, for example:
If you hadn’t heard, Amar’e went HAM on a fire extinguisher last night after another agonizing loss to the Heat and will now have to sit out for the rest of the series. Naturally, the Internet took this story and ran with it, which resulted in the above “Office Space” spoof. I love the 21st century sometimes.
Really, it’s surprising that Mike Bibby didn’t get in on the punching-things action after Dwyane Wade pulled this stunt in the same game:
It was just Mike Bibby, so no one really cares. But still, you stay classy, D-Wade! If this were a high school gym class, Wade’s teacher would have probably made him drop and do twenty. You know, like Zach Randolph did on Sunday:
Here’s a second-by-second breakdown of what was going through Z-Bo’s head in that moment, approximately:
0:02: *Loud thud* “Ah, shit!”
0:05: “Damn, that hurt. Better roll over onto my stomach and almost topple Mark Gasol while I’m down here.”
0:07: “Okay, I can still feel my legs. Maybe I should wiggle around a little just to be sure everything’s cool.”
0:08: “Welp, there goes the headband. Ah well, I’m not LeBron, so no worries.”
0:09: *Plays dead*
0:10: “PUSHUPS!!!! ONE (OH GOD) … TWO (SWEET JESUS) … THREE (I’M DYING). Alright I’m good now.”
Love you so much, Zach.

And then there’s this, which really needs no caption except “Javale McGee.” Naturally, that photo comes from a Twitter account called @BigDaddyWookie.

Rajon Rondo’s weirdness is such a joy. My personal favorite is when he heads the ball like a soccer player, or Steve Nash in the dunk contest that one time.
