ASUO Sen. Ben Rudin filed another electronic grievance with the Constitutional Court against the Katie and Alex campaign April 8.
In the grievance, Rudin said he noticed the website for the Katie and Alex campaign linked to this URL: duckweb.votekatieandalex.org. The campaign website has a “Vote Now! On DuckWeb,” box in the upper right corner, which then links to the DuckWeb login page.
“By putting ‘duckweb’ at the beginning of the URL, they are impersonating duckweb.uoregon.edu and abusing the credibility of that URL,” Rudin said in the grievance. “Katie & Alex are engaging in a fraudulent and deceptive practice, so the election is not being carried out in the best interest of the student body.”
Rudin said that the Katie and Alex campaign is using DuckWeb for partisan purposes to affect the outcome of the election, which violates elections rules. Such violations can result in the suspension of the campaign, removal from the ballot, or from office, according to ASUO Election Rules.
Rudin requested that the Constitutional Court suspend the Katie and Alex campaign for 24 hours. He also asked that duckweb.votekatieandalex.org be removed.
Representatives from the Katie and Alex campaign were not available for comment.
