Take a Minute is a daily post that will catch you up on Internet happenings on campus and around the world.
I’ll be honest. I used to love Vladimir Putin. From the way he hunted tigers to the fact that he wrote a textbook about the art of Judo, Putin always seemed like a hilarious, sanitized caricature of Eastern Bloc dictators. Like Cracked.com’s Luke McKinney said, “Putin is what happens when James Bond gets one of his villains pregnant, and the child grows up to kick both their asses.”
But especially under the cloud of corruption and subterfuge that’s accompanied Russia’s political sectors recently, Putin has seemed more dangerous than daffy. Amid massive protests at the Kremlin, Putin began his third term as president of Russia. Over the last four years, he’s served as prime minister, a position he will hand over to Dmitry Medvedev — Russia’s last president.
The power swap rippled across Twitter.
“Serving the fatherland is the meaning of my life” – Putin. Hundreds of Russian heads were bloodied by security… fb.me/FZ12EZcg

Video of the day
I don’t even like soccer. But watching this video of all of Lionel Messi’s 72 goals this season is amazing nonetheless. His finesse, intelligence and sense of space is something any fans of sports can appreciate.
