Southern Oregon man sentenced 10 years on drug charges
Grants Pass resident Jason Nelson, 37, was sentenced to 10 years in prison after being convicted on felony drug and weapons charges, according to The Oregonian.
Nelson was a registered medical marijuana grower in the state of Oregon, but an investigation which led to his arrest revealed he was selling his marijuana illegally.
A shipping container housing 162 marijuana plants and equipment required to grow and cultivate the plants were found on Nelson’s property, along with three machine guns.
West Linn teenagers spend two nights in the wilderness
Bradley Nelson, 16, and Jackson Chandler, 17, were rescued Monday afternoon by a passerby along a forestry service access road after a hiking trip gone awry, according to The Oregonian.
After taking off for a day hike on Saturday near Molalla, the boys failed to find their trail-head and instead ventured into an unknown area. After becoming lost and failing to find their vehicle, the boys relied on their knives, compass and camping stove to last two nights in the wilderness.
Salem woman travels to New York to aid in Sandy storm
The American Red Cross has called upon individuals to serve at emergency centers on the East Coast in reaction to Hurricane Sandy making landfall this week, according to the Statesman-Journal.
One of those individuals is Fran Ericksen, 67. Ericksen is an Oregon Red Cross disaster volunteer who has aided in previous storms, including Hurricane Izaac earlier this year.
