The weekend is finally here, which means Eugene is going to see its first real batch of autumn college parties. If you’re joining them this weekend and whether you’re hosting or getting out on the town, you’ll probably find your life much improved by a few choice equipment selections before you start your night.
Speakers: Laptop speakers just don’t cut it, both in terms of volume and quality. If you’re going to have friends crowded in a small space, maybe you can justify using those tinny@@i’m guessing this word choice is correct in lieu of ‘tiny’@@ monstrosities, but really, you owe it to yourself to spend 30 dollars on a set of entry-level PC speakers. Sure, a true audiophile wouldn’t be pleased, but the step up in quality is more than worth the money.
Charging Cable: The last thing you want is for your phone to run dry on battery while you’re stranded in some obscure corner of Eugene. If you need to call your friends or a cab, you will always be much safer with a fully-charged phone. Awkward as it may be to have to charge your phone at someone else’s place, it’s far better than the alternative.
Rotating, Light-up Disco Ball: If you find yourself strolling through a Walmart, you’ll probably spot one of these on the shelves: a rotating sphere that shoots colored light around the room. Chintzy and cheap as it may be, you should never underestimate the power of a straight-up dumb conversation piece like this with the right crowd.
Water bottle: When the night winds down, you’ll probably find yourself in need of some hydration. In this situation, nothing is as much a blessing as having a full bottle of life-giving water on hand. You’ll thank yourself for having thought ahead.
