As the No. 3 Ducks take on the Arizona Wildcats this weekend, the school’s athletic department will honor titans of the program’s past, including quarterbacks Bill Musgrave and Joey Harrington, as well as Nike co-founder and University benefactor Phil Knight.
Announced in August, Oregon’s Athletics Hall of Fame class will have their formal induction this weekend. While the Class of 2012 is headlined by Harrington and Knight, two legends who’ve permanently left their mark on the football program, it also includes men’s basketball All-American Hugh Latham, softball All-American Kim Manning Strahm, former NFL strong safety Chad Cota, and the 1971, ’73 and ’74 men’s cross country teams led by Steve Prefontaine and five other All-Americans.
Additionally, Musgrave, a four-year starter under center from 1987-1990, will receive the school’s Leo Harris Award, presented to “an alumnus letterman who has been out of college for at least 20 years and who has demonstrated continued service and leadership to the University.” Musgrave is currently the offensive coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings after coaching stints with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Washington Redskins and Atlanta Falcons.
Finally, Jimmy Dollar, employed by the AD for 35 years, will be named an honorary Order of the O member.

No. 8 Oregon volleyball opened conference play with a win Wednesday night in this year’s first Civil War matchup.
After falling behind in the second set, the Ducks rallied behind middle blocker Ariana Williams and outside hitter Alaina Bergsma to take the second set 26-24 before completing the sweep in the third.
Head coach Jim Moore’s undefeated team has swept opponents in eight of their ten wins and will try to keep their win streak alive against fellow undefeated No. 2 USC in Los Angeles. The Women of Troy knocked off No. 1 UCLA on Wednesday night.
The always-competitive Pac-12 has five teams in the nation’s top eight, including No. 5 Washington and No. 6 Stanford, and Oregon State and California sit just outside the top 25.
K-State and Oregon are the only two schools currently undefeated in football and volleyball and ranked in both national polls.

Nike’s Oregon Ducks Lunar TR1 hit the web this morning. Via SoleCollector.com: “The Swoosh logos and laces bear 3M reflective detailing, while Oregon yellow accents pop of the tongue and heel logos, Flywire, midfoot shank and outsole.”
They’re sexy-looking kicks, but a release date has yet to be announced.
