University presidential finalist Michael Gottfredson toured the University campus Tuesday morning, including the John E. Jaqua Academic Center, before meeting with the press in the Ford Alumni Center. After being announced as the only University presidential finalist in an email Monday morning, he wasted no time in addressing some of the most recent controversies at the University and how he would tackle them if confirmed as the next president: “We need to find the right balance between institutional authority and the (state) system.
“We won’t hesitate. We won’t falter and won’t take a back seat with respect to our commitment to public higher education and the access and affordability to the institution,” he said. “We’ll find a way.”
After several media interviews and a portrait session in the Ford Center, Gottfredson met for lunch with ASUO student leaders for lunch in the Carson dining hall.
