The Oregon Ducks welcome the Arizona Wildcats into Autzen Stadium on Saturday at 3:30 p.m., with both teams bowl-eligible and in the hunt for the Holiday Bowl, along with an outside chance for a share of the Pacific-10 Conference title.
Of course, “welcome” might be a little strong.
Arizona and Oregon might not be a rivalry in the traditional sense, but the last two seasons have raised the level of ire between the two fan bases to an all-time high. Arizona has beaten Oregon two seasons running and knocked Oregon’s starting quarterback out of the game two out of the last three years.
Last season, the Wildcats’ 34-24 win in Tucson knocked Oregon from the BCS Championship race, ended Heisman Trophy candidate Dennis Dixon’s college career and was the first of three games the Ducks lost to end the season.
