I’m not sure what happened at the Campbell Club house on Saturday night, or why the police were called, but as a University student and a resident of the Eugene area for the last 17 years, I am concerned. Not about the party, but about the fact that six attacks have been reported on campus in the past month and the EPD is sending 12 officers to bust a house party! It seems to me that the safety of our citizens should be the police’s main concern, but I suppose handing out citations to party-goers is much more lucrative.
I live right next door to the Campbell Club house, and I personally slept through the party and the bust, which means that the noise was not so excessive that the EPD had to send 12 police officers. I have to walk home from my classes in the dark at least three nights a week and I would feel much safer if half of those officers who were busting that party were looking for the guy who has been attacking girls on campus, or keeping an eye on things so no one else gets attacked.
