Magali Rabasa, a University graduate and current human rights worker, will give a speech tonight at 6 p.m. in 129 McKenzie about her experiences and work during the past year in Mexico.
The speech will be part of a presentation entitled “Zapatismo Today and La Otra Campaña: Reflections and Analysis on Solidarity and Resistance in Chiapas, Mexico.”
Rabasa spent the past school year working with the Mexican human rights organization SIPAZ (Servico Internacional Para La Paz) in San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas. She also participated in a political tour in southern Mexico for the current presidential race.
The event will be sponsored by the Committee in Solidarity with the Central American People, a group with which Rabasa volunteered during her time at the University.
The presentation is free and open to the public.
