The State Board of Higher 21Education approved a University proposal Wednesday to pursue the purchase of a 125,000 square-foot building in Portland currentlyoccupied by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
The University has identified two possible locations to move its over-crowded Portland satellite campus from its location near Pioneer Courthouse Square, a move that could add new students.
The adopted resolution gave conditional permission, so long as the University sufficiently informs the board of the sale’s progress and the board is given final approval before the purchase of the federal building located at 511 NW Broadway.
Senior Vice President and Provost John Moseley previously told the Emerald in a Jan. 31 article (“UO considers moving Portland site”) that University was further along with another development project in the Old Town district.
