Students can look forward to savings on their electric bills this fall following a rate decrease by the Eugene Water and Electric Board.
EWEB commissioners Tuesday night approved a 1.4 percent decrease in residential rates, translating into a reduction of roughly $1.23 per month for the average customer using 1,050 kilowatt-hours of electricity, according to an EWEB press release.
Bonneville Power Administration electricity costs have decreased, allowing the most recent rate drop.
Electric charges increased by an average of 5.8 percent in May after being lowered twice in 2005, keeping rates “relatively stable since the fall of 2004,” according to the release.
