Oregon Daily Emerald: Who’s your favorite tennis player?
Anna Powaska: I really like James Blake. He’s hot.
ODE: If you weren’t playing tennis, what would you be doing?
Powaska: Everything. Probably some other sport. I used to swim. Gave that up when I had to decide between swimming or tennis. I was pretty good then, but tennis is so much more fun. And for swimming you have to wake up really early in the morning to practice if you want the pool to yourself.
ODE: If you could be someone else for a day, who would you be?
Powaska: I guess I would want to be a man for one day, to see how it is. I’d be a tennis coach. I’d just take out my frustrations on the players. (laughs)
ODE: Best thing about being Polish?
Powaska: Um, the accent?
ODE: What’s your favorite thing to do in Eugene on a sunny day?
Powaska: Fly fishing. My boyfriend is a fly fishing guide. We sometimes go to the McKenzie. Fly fishing’s not boring because you’re always doing something, not just waiting.
