Members of both the ASUO and student programs have said student government meetings are often unfamiliar and intimidating for the students who come with special requests or to give presentations.
Tuesday afternoon, University students will have an opportunity to meet and speak with members of the ASUO in an informal setting.
The ASUO is hosting an ice cream social from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the east lawn of the EMU. All are invited to the event, which is sponsored by the Division of Student Affairs.
ASUO President Emily McLain said one of the most important things to her is improving communication between the ASUO and student groups. She said this type of event is a good chance to start that process.
The ASUO normally hosts some type of event to meet with student programs, McLain said.
“We thought it would be a good idea to have one in the spring as well as the fall,” she said. “We’re working with each other so closely that we should all know who’s in what position.”
McLain said all students are invited to the event. She said while there should be enough ice cream for anyone who wants to come, the ASUO would like people to RSVP in the ASUO office if possible.
