The No. 38 women’s golf team started the spring season in style with a third place finish at the Peg Barnard Invitational.
The tournament, held in Stanford, Calif., provided a nice test for the Ducks with quality
opponents like No. 10 California, No. 22 UC Davis, No. 24 Stanford, and
No. 35 Washington.
Stanford won the tournament with a combined score of 596, while California followed close behind with a 597. Oregon came next with a final score of 607, placing ahead of Washington (609), and UC Davis (615).
Individually, the Ducks had three players finish in the top 10 overall. Sophomore Ashley Edwards paced the team with a final score of 150, good for a fifth place tie. Junior Kendra Little also had a strong showing with a score of 151 (tied for seventh), while senior Felicia Eastick finished tied for 10th with a 152.
It was a particularly momentous weekend for Edwards, who had never led the Ducks at the end of a tournament.
Freshman Cheyenne Hickle also played well, tying for 32nd place with a 158, while senior Kate Hildahl followed with a 162 (44th place).
Joanna Lee of California and Sally Watson of Stanford tied for the best individual scores of the tournament, finishing at 144.
