Washington State junior linebacker Alex Hoffman-Ellis faces the tough task of containing Oregon’s zone-read spread offense on Saturday. Hoffman-Ellis recorded seven tackles against the Ducks last season and leads the Cougars with 32 stops and two interceptions this season.
Oregon quarterback Darron Thomas has continued to grow in his first season as the starting quarterback, proven by last week’s showing against a tough Stanford Cardinal defense. In that game Thomas completed 20 of 29 passes for 238 yards and three touchdowns, and also carried the ball 15 times for 117 yards and another score.
