The newly formed Team Stunts and Gymnastics squad completed its final tune-up this weekend in Tacoma, Wash., at the Pac-West Apple Cup.
The Oregon women tallied 176 points out of a possible 200 to take home the victory.
The win was the team’s second of the year after winning the Slam City Jamz in Daly City, Calif., last month. It will now gear up for its first big competition in early February.
“We did very well,” head coach Felecia Mulkey told GoDucks.com. “We bobbled one part of our pyramid which we weren’t happy with but overall we competed well and very hard. Our team also came together and bonded this weekend and when we took the floor today we were a different squad from last week and that was very exciting as our season is finally approaching.”
The Ducks are now looking forward to competing in the first-ever National Competitive Stunts and Tumbling Association-sanctioned collegiate meet at Kennesaw State University on Feb. 5.
The event will feature a new format and scoring system, and will be somewhat of a homecoming for Mulkey after graduating from Kennesaw State and coaching there for several years before coming to Oregon.
The Ducks’ first home meet will be held on Feb. 21 at McArthur Court.
