The first major road closures of the Interstate 105 Improvement Project will begin Monday when
the eastbound lane of I-105 will close for construction over the
Interstate 5 interchange for eight days. Anyone using the I-105 interchange on a regular basis should find alternate routes.
I-105’s westbound lanes will be open, but there will be delays and congestion. Drivers headed east will not be able to merge onto I-5 going north. Instead, Coburg Road can be taken north to Beltline Highway East, which connects with I-5.
Motorists headed east toward Springfield on I-105 will not be able to use the I-5 overpass. Better routes might be via Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard or Franklin Boulevard.
Drivers traveling on I-5 should expect some congestion as well, though all lanes will remain open. Southbound travelers will not be able to take the eastbound Springfield exit or the westbound Eugene exit at I-105 (Highway 126).
