The Oregon Ducks women’s basketball team just finished a season that saw it finish 2-16 in Pac-12 Conference play and finishing last place in the conference. As the transfer window opens for women’s basketball, the Ducks have already seen three starters from last season enter their names into the portal. Starting guard Chance Gray and starting forwards Grace VanSlooten and Kennedy Basham have all announced that they have entered the transfer portal.
Basham, VanSlooten and Gray all announced their decision on social media on X, formerly known as Twitter, within minutes of each other the morning of Apr. 3. Their announcements come just three days after 247Sports’ Erik Skopil reported that bench forward Priscilla Williams has announced her entrance to the transfer portal.
VanSlooten was Oregon’s leading scorer this past season where she averaged 15.0 points per game. Gray was second on the Ducks in scoring with 13.9 points per game. Basham started most of the season for Oregon, but did not have a significant impact for the early part of the season. However, her last four regular season games saw somewhat of a breakout where she averaged 11.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game.
Oregon has two recruits committed for next season in guard Katie Fiso — who is ranked 32nd in the 2024 class according to ESPN — and forward Faith Etute. However, the Ducks will likely have to be very active in the transfer portal if they hope to improve on their disappointing 2023-24 campaign.
