Thousands of US veterans are reportedly returning to school, many of whom are returning from war.

With five veteran mentors helping new student veterans through one-on-one mentoring, Dog Tags to Ducks helps show what educational resources are available for military personnel. The mentors hope to show the students how to best jump through the hoops of academia so the student vets can get the most out of the university experience, KVAL reports.
Jail escapee charged in Lane County
After escaping from the Douglas County Jail in a trash can last summer, a Springfield man was charged Wednesday with a range of crimes that allegedly occurred during his 33 days on the run.
Thomas Ivan Grimes Jr., 32,@@checked@@ pleaded not guilty in Lane County Circuit Court to attempted first-degree assault, second-degree escape, attempting to elude police, resisting arrest, unauthorized use of a vehicle and possession of a stolen vehicle.
A Springfield SWAT team arrested Grimes in July after he had slipped away from pursuing officers in the weeks following his escape from jail, The Register-Guard reports.
