This is the third time the Oregon Supreme Court has removed the death sentence for Rogers, but he will remain in jail despite arguments from the defense claiming that 18 years in jail had changed the defendant.
According to The Register Guard, authorities believe Rogers killed eight women in 1987, and prosecutors said he tortured, stabbed and mutilated his victims, binding them with dog collars and coat hangers and then dumping them in a forest near Molalla in Clackamas County.
Rain could harm local wineries
You might not be the only one dreading the forecast in Eugene as the sunshine goes away and the rain clouds get heavier.
Harvesting grapes usually takes up to 10 days, but local wineries like Benton-Lane Winery only started about a week ago which could lead to some problems if the rain comes before all of the grapes are picked.
According to KEZI, the vines are very thirsty and will suck up all of the rain water which could cause many of the thick-skinned grapes to crack and burst open, rendering the grape useless. The rain could also cause vines to mold, as well as dilute flavors that wine makers have been working on all summer.
