The Oregon Student Association @@checkedlink@@registered 1,430 students in Oregon to vote Monday, according to an OSA press release.
OSA has volunteers on 21 campuses across the state who engaged students through orientation events, clipboarding and class presentations.
The OSA joined with ASUO to register 1,500 University students, mainly freshmen, in the dormitories during the Week of Welcome, according to Greg McAteer,@@checked@@ ASUO legislative director.
“Our goal was to inform and recruit mainly freshmen during the Week of Welcome, as they are typically unregistered voters,” McAteer said.
The effort was supported by University Housing, according to McAteer.
“UO Housing was extremely cooperative in allowing us to register freshmen to vote, ” McAteer said.
