Bad news out of Corvallis, as Oregon State’s season opener against Nicholls State has been postponed because of Tropical Storm Isaac. The Colonels ran into travel issues, and their Thibodaux, La., campus has been closed for safety reasons for Isaac, which was recently downgraded from a hurricane. Officials said if Nicholls State isn’t involved in the FCS playoffs and Oregon State isn’t playing in the Pac-12 Championship, the two could conceivably meet at the end of the season.

Head coach Chip Kelly was characteristically brief when addressing sophomore quarterback Bryan Bennett’s decision to stay at Oregon.
“We’re never going to talk about that,” Kelly said. “That’s a player-coach relationship. Every coach and every player has a relationship (and) anyone can can close the door and talk about that stuff. That’s what I respect out of Bryan, and that’s what I think Bryan respects out of us.”
Kelly also wryly noted there will never be a “Hard Knocks” Oregon Ducks, referring to the popular NFL training camp show on HBO.

“Looking back on BB’s decision, painful to see how quickly some Duck fans change their opinion on a player. Not the 1st time and it’s sad.” — Nate Costa, former Ducks quarterback
Costa knows plenty about this, after a roller-coaster, injury-riddled career at Oregon.
