The National Academy of Sciences awarded University psychologist Michael Posner for his research in attention systems in children. Poser is considered a pioneer in the field of cognitive neuroscience and is the first scientist to be awarded in the field.
Researchers from the University of Tennessee found a new way to fit more exercise into an average day: walk in place during TV commercials. The researchers studied a group of 23 men and women to see how many calories they burned. Walking in place burned a total of 148 calories in about 25 minutes compared to just sitting, which burned 81 calories.
Now users can share more on their Facebook profile after the social media company announced 60 new applications last week. The newest apps include Ticketmaster, Foodspotting and Rotten Tomatoes, the movie review site. Facebook expects developers will create thousands of more apps to attract more users to its site.
