San Francisco-based video artist Bryan Boyce will speak Friday about the absurdity of American politics and the expansive visual possibilities of music, according to a Department of Art news release. Boyce combines a subversive use of digital animation with strong audio-visual metaphor to amplify the “darkly comic antics of the conservative media circus,” according to the release.
The program will feature some of Boyce’s short films, including his Dick Cheney-Scarface mash-up, “America’s Biggest Dick,” and George Bush’s invasion of Teletubby land in “State of the Union,” among other pieces.
Boyce’s work has been screened at numerous venues and festivals around the world, according to the release.
The program runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in 177 Lawrence Hall. The free event is open to the public.
