Anti-abortion activists, including University College Republicans Chairman Anthony Warren, paraded the streets of Eugene early Saturday, marching from St. Mary Catholic Church to the Federal Building.
“We decided to show the city and other college students that there is a pro-life community here in Eugene,” Warren said.
Warren, the only University student present, said an anti-abortion demonstration will take place on Monday on the lawn across from the Lillis Business Complex.
Supporters of all ages participated in the parade Saturday.
“It’s great to see this much support for our cause,” supporter Stan Oberst said.
The Eugene branch of the Oregon Right to Life group organized the parade, and Oberst said the group tries to do one every year and has for the past three years.
Parade participant Viola Barant summed up the organization’s intentions in two words: “Saving lives.”
