A University law professor had his home near campus broken into and thousands of dollars in musical equipment, a laptop computer and a purse were stolen late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning, according to Eugene police.
A burglar entered through the window of Associate Professor of Law Carl Bjerre’s home on University Street while Bjerre and his wife were out and stole several musical instruments, Eugene Police Department spokeswoman Kerry Delf said. The instruments were by far the most expensive items stolen, Delf said, without saying the exact estimated value of the stolen items.
In an Aug. 17, 2004, story, the Emerald reported that Bjerre played saxophone for the Garden Weasels with other law professors, and in a band called The Sophisticatos.
Bjerre told police he and his wife left at about 11:30 p.m. and returned less than an hour later to discover the items missing, Delf said. Police were notified at 12:21 a.m. of the burglary.
