A bigger and better McMenamins East 19th Street Cafe reopens today at 11:00 a.m. after being closed for six weeks for renovation. The restaurant and bar has expanded to allow room for two pool tables, two pinball machines, two dart boards and one snooker table. Three new murals featuring the Oregon Country Fair adorn the walls.
The expansion also included a new patio along Agate Street complete with ten new tables, custom-made iron work and a woodstove, McMenamins General Manager Blair Hampson said.
“There’s nice seating around the stove and we have two big barn doors that open out onto the patio that we hope to keep open as much as possible,” Hampson said. “It should be pretty comfortable both inside and outside.”
The refurbishing extended to the menu too, which now includes freshly baked pizzas and calzones, fish and chips, and $5 items such as spicy tacos and a curry rice bowl.
“We’ve got some great additions,” Hampson said.
However, the McMenamins favorites are still present, he said.
“We’ve still got good beer from our brewery in Roseburg, and we’re looking forward to still being a part of the neighborhood.”
