The Oregon women’s golf team begins its spring season today, flying south to participate in the Baja Classic at the Bajamar Resort in Baja California, Mexico on Feb. 5-6. All eight members of the squad will travel south of the border, and five players will make up the team score, while the three remaining members will compete as individuals.
The first two rounds of the 54-hole tournament will be played today, with the final 18 holes scheduled for Tuesday.
The Ducks are hoping to build on the success of their last tournament, but this event comes following a long winter break. At the Stanford Intercollegiate on Oct. 20-22, Oregon finished sixth out of 15 teams, and just one stroke out of the top five.
The individual highlight of the tournament came from senior Kim McCready, who tied the school record for the lowest single round with a four-under 67.
After the Baja Classic today and Tuesday, the Ducks travel to the Fresno State Invitational Feb. 26-27.
