With the Oregon Ducks potentially one day away from their first Rose Bowl berth in seven years, there has been a lot of talk about the 1994-95 Oregon Ducks team that captivated the state while blazing its path to Pasadena.
Well, the UO Bookstore is currently selling a commemorative book titled “The Year of the Duck” that recounts the entire Rose Bowl season. The book is written by former Oregon Sports Information Director George Beres, who also served as the SID for Northwestern. It is filled with insightful commentary and captivating pictures.
The book is now on sale for $6, and should the Ducks indeed earn a trip to the 2001 Rose Bowl, there will be a printed summary of the 2000 regular season inserted into the copies of the book at the bookstore following the Civil War game.
Beres has seen numerous football teams throughout his lifetime, including the 1958 and 1995 Rose Bowl teams from Oregon. But he says that this year’s Oregon team could be even better.
“[They’re] good enough to not just hold their own, as the undermanned teams of ’58 and ’95 did, but to enter the Rose Bowl as the favorite,” Beres said.
