The Co-op Family Center’s annual art show and silent auction features artwork by children in Co-op classes and programs. Started by University students in 1978, The Co-op has been non-profit for the past 30 years to offer affordable childcare for the children of University students and the community.
University graduate student Lisa Forster said she has come to appreciate the value of art in the classroom more than ever this year. Her daughter’s pre-kindergarten class did art projects this year to cope with the loss of Forster’s 6-year-old son, who attended the Co-op after-school program and died last summer.
The Co-op at 2250 Patterson St. will hold its free art show in the Spencer View Community Room tonight at 6:30 p.m.
