The No. 14 men’s golf team blitzed through the final 36 holes to win the USC Collegiate Invitational by 16 strokes.
Oregon was easily the most dominant team in the tournament, shooting an 831 (21-under par). It was the first tournament win of the season for the Ducks, as they outpaced a crowded field that included No. 2 Stanford, No. 9 Arizona State and No. 11 UCLA.
No. 16 California took second place with a total score of 847 (five-under par), while Arizona State followed close behind with an 848 (four-under par).
Sophomore Eugene Wong also took home the individual crown, shooting a 203 (10-under par) for the tournament and narrowly edging USC’s T.J. Vogel (204).
Sophomore Andrew Vijarro also had a strong showing, finishing in fourth overall with a 207 (six-under par). Sophomore Daniel Miernicki followed with a 209 (four-under par), and tied for fifth place. Junior Isaiah Telles, meanwhile, tied for 25th with a final score of 214 (one-over par).
As a team, Oregon never shot above par during the tournament. Indeed, the Ducks improved by the round, shooting a 279 in the first, 277 in the second, and finishing with a 275.
