The No. 33 women’s golf team opened up its second tournament of the spring season in Tucson, Ariz., on Monday. The Wildcat Invitational features six top ten teams, including No. 2 Auburn, No. 3 Arizona State, and No. 5 USC.
In what turned out to be a rainy opening round, Oregon’s play mirrored the weather. The Ducks got off to a slow start, finishing the day tied for 12th place with a total score of 309 (25 over par).
Oregon tied with USC, which also finished the day 25 over par. Arizona State currently leads the tournament with a score of 290 (6 over par), while No. 21 Stanford follows closer behind with a 293 (9 over par). Tournament host No. 16 Arizona rounds out the top three with a 294 (10 over par).
Junior Kendra Little and senior Kate Hildahl led the way for the Ducks on Monday, both finishing tied for 22nd place with scores of 75 (4 over par). Sophomore Ashley Edwards followed with a 78 (7 over par) and is currently tied for 47th place. Senior Felicia Eastick hit an 81 (10 over par), while freshman Cheyenne Hickle chipped in with an 85 (14 over par).
