An upset around campus has broken out recently over the last installment of the Harry Potter films. Many students who are fans of the books but have yet to see the film are expressing outrage over the spoilers that are said to be contained in the recently released part one of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
“I’ve read every single book and seen every movie up until now,” said junior Cathrine Winkle, “and I really don’t appreciate this movie ruining the ending for me!”
For many, the Harry Potter franchise has made up most of their childhood, and with the end of the film saga comes an end to their innocence. Some, however, don’t seem ready to make the transition. In an effort to avoid hearing the end of the story, senior Eric Klein said he has been entering every conversation since the film’s release with this:
“I HAVEN’T SEEN HARRY POTTER YET SO DON’T TELL ME WHAT HAPPENS!”
Klein said he was infuriated when a friend posted a Facebook status reading: “R.I.P. Dobby.” Klein said the spoiler ruined his movie experience.
“I spent months avoiding spoilers,” said Klein, “and now I have to go into the movie with all these preconceived ideas of the plot and someone else’s opinions over my head.”
When asked if he was still going to see the movie, Klein said, “of course I’m still going to see it! I’ve read Deathly Hallows probably seventeen times. It’s my favorite one.”
