All reporters write at least one 500-word anchor story per week with at least three sources. Reporters should turn in three story pitches/ideas per week to their editor — at least two from the beat they are assigned to. They are also expected to work breaking news shifts, meaning they are in the office looking for any news to cover on campus in shifts throughout the day. These are usually about 4 to 6 hours per week, total. We will also have weekly all-staff meetings and news desk meetings on Sundays. Reporters are expected to check in with their editor regularly throughout the week, and there will be quick in person check ins or editing sessions with editors once a week to discuss progress of anchors.
