Following Thursday’s football practice and the announcement that lineman Eddie Heard has been arrested and suspended indefinitely from the team, reporters met with Oregon coaches to talk about preparations for USC.
Neither head coach Mark Helfrich nor defensive coordinator Brady Hoke elected to further comment on Heard.
Hoke was asked what he can say about Heard. “Nothing,” he said. “Good question, though.”
He was then asked, “How did you find out about it?”
“Don’t worry about it, guys,” Hoke said. “I’m not going to answer the question. We have a head football coach that does those things.
Helfrich declined to elaborate as well, redirecting questions to his statement, which was released Thursday morning before practice: “Eddie Heard has been suspended indefinitely. We will take appropriate action as details develop.”
