In a fashion similar to Oregon women’s tennis’s win this weekend, Oregon men’s tennis held its Nebraska to a single point in its 6-1 win Sunday.
The victory advanced the Ducks’ record to 6-1 overall since the season began in mid-January.
“The urgency in doubles play was there and it carried over into singles,” head coach Nils Schyllander told GoDucks. “Overall, it was a good weekend.”
That doubles urgency paid off Cormac Clissold and Thomas Laurent clinched their match. Daan Maasland and Simon Stevens closely followed and defeated their Cornhusker opponents to earn the Ducks the doubles point. Both doubles teams won 6-1.
Jayson Amos and Clissold were the first to bring in singles victories for the Ducks, earning Oregon the 3-0 lead. That win was followed closely by a 6-2, 7-5  triumph from Laurent, who earned Oregon the 4-0 win.
Although the match was finished, play continued on the remaining courts. Maasland and Stevens both took home singles victories, as well. Nebraska earned its only point of the day over Ethan Young-Smith in a three-set thriller.
Next up, the Ducks return to Eugene to take on Northern Arizona on Friday, followed by No. 45 Louisville on Sunday.
